Who am I and what am I doing?

Howdy, I’m Sheyda Gazeran. I am a Nottingham based wedding and portrait photographer

I believe that having your picture taken should be fun and effortless. That’s my promise to you.

I primarily take contemporary and documentary style photos. That means me in the background, making sure you're the one in focus. If I hear you say "I hate having my photo taken!" it’s game on. I'll be snapping those magical fleeting moments, the ones you didn’t even notice. Like catching you giggling at an inside joke, or when a kid is caught blowing bubbles through a straw, when your loved ones shed a tear of pride for you. And that look on your partner's face, as they first catch sight of you walking down the aisle. Or skipping through the meadow!

Amazing things happen in the blink of an eye, and it’s that beautiful, raw emotion I’ll capture. And you get to keep it, forever. No awkward posing, just telling your story the way you want to remember it. I'm fulfilling my dreams by realising yours, through photography.

A little about me

I love art, in all formats. But photography has always been my constant love.

I have three children. One of them is our future prime minister, but mostly resembles Kevin the teenager. The other two sit nicely for treats. Yet all three respond to the rustling of food packets.

I have lived in Nottingham all my life and believe it is truly an amazing city, I love adventures and regularly travel with ‘the kids' and my favourite person, around the uk and overseas, which feeds my fascination for different cultures, languages and accents.

Hello, Salam, Kalimera, Merhaba, Ola, Sawadi ka, Guten tag, Ay up me duck!

I like hide and seek, pub quizzes, big cuddles and go karting. Two of which I am excellent at.
I also love a good cup of tea, cosying up by the fire and having long chats about everything and nothing.

Where it all started…

It all started when I was about 6. My Nana bought me a bright yellow, wind up camera, for Christmas. Unfortunately, my parents got fed up of wasting money on developing pictures that were poorly framed and completely on the wonk. I said they were "contemporary art, darling". So they prised the bright yellow camera out of my hands and on my next birthday, gifted me with non other, than a bright blue, two handled, two viewfindered, red strapped, Fisher Price, Perfect Shot! There was no stopping me now.

Fast forward to my 18th birthday, studying, Drama&Theatre, Performing Arts, Music Technology and Media Studies...  I was blessed with my first DSLR. I spent more time taking photos than studying the subjects I chose.

So there you have it, my burning passion to create something spectacular, began as a tiny human. Through studying photography, I find there is always something new to learn and more to try. I just want to make people happy, doing something I love.

“New situations can be intimidating. You lookin’ around and it’s all scary and different, but y’know… meeting them head-on, charging into ‘em like a bull — that’s how we grow as people.”
